So I'm in the process of redoing most of what I did in vRA 6.2 in 7.3. Right now I'm trying to determine if I can use the new blueprint designer or if I still have to use XAAS blueprints. In 6.2 one of our bigger use cases was having dropdowns that were dynamically populated via an Orchestrator Action based on the user's business group. I see that now in 7 you can create custom properties that execute an Orchestrator Action (which is cool). But as best I can tell you either have to type in the input values statically or define them as an additional custom property that a user can select. In our case I don't want the user to be able to pick it .... I want to pull his business group and give him a list of options. Are there hidden properties that can be used there to reference the requestor, busgroup, etc like there are in XAAS or no?

I just plugged into a (wired) corporate network (phone is disconnected) that I know works with bridging. I configured the VM to use bridging, then started it up. Everything works as normal.
The question is then: why does bridging not work when tethered to the Android phone?

We are using LTSB as Pro has all the built-in apps that when removed causes stability issues with the desktop. The LTSB version is pretty stable in our environment.

but i just discovered that i confused myself;
the configurations were all ok...
cause i just double checked the test VM to ping the gateway 192.168.1.1 and both 10.101.6.25, 10.101.6.26 without a problem.
the pings all replied normally, which achieved my initial expectation.
the final problem is that the VM couldn't reach 8.8.8.8, unable to touch the internet.
(the 10.101.6.0/24 was designed as public ip)
i believe the static route and next hop do not need to configure, neither do the DHCP
the "route redistribution table" didn't help too.
any ideas?

When I create a VM (any guest) at first it works fine and all networks are connected properly. After a few OS restarts Workstation starts having the "Could not connect" problems. The log is attached.
What is going on? I'm trying to learn both VMWare and Server 2012/2016 for certification purposes and keep running into this problem.

The content of your RDMs will make a big difference.
If the RDM is filled with lots of small files robocopy will be quite slow.
On the other hand robocopy may be the fastest option if you have the RDM only partially filed or have it filled with large files.

Well, ps -aux | grep vmnet8 resulted in

I changed the network editor to use vmnet 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 and it seems to be working ok through multiple reboots. Thank you.
I was hasty. Now I'm getting Could not connect 'Ethernet0' to virtual network '/dev/vmnet2'. THis happens over and over. I can switch what vmnets are used in the network editor and then fix whatever VM I'm about to use and it will work past maybe 2 reboots. It did the same in Windows until the creator's update out-of-memory bug made me come to Linux. This is ridiculous. Newest log is attached again.

I don't have a debug log to share, but I have seen delays in the logs.
I'm going down the road of trying to disable OpLocks in our Isilon cluster.
Our Isilon SMB share is behind about 30 IP addresses (nodes) and the TTL is around Zero. (Every time you ping, you get a different IP address.)
I'm thinking that the nature of the UEM product is to connect/reconnect as it accesses the zip files, and Oplocks may be interfering.
I know that I battle the UEM console, and suffer from File Locks while trying to edit/save the .ini files. I'm hoping this is the issue, because I can't think of anything else.
If not, I will put it behind some DFS shares in VCenter.

Re: My Windows 10 Pro VM in Workstation Pro 12 includes a floppy drive that is not in the VM hardware list. Why?
When ever you install a guestOS using the "easy install" approach Workstation adds a virtual floppy drive to the virtual hardware.
Some times those virtual floppy drives are not removed once the installation is done.
If you find a file name autoinst.flp or similar in the same directory of the vmx-file then you have a leftover device from "easy install"
To verify this - ignore the GUI-display and rather examine the vmx-file.
To remove a floppy drive just set
floppy0.present = "false"
